The Latest Technology For Early
Detection of Cancer and Disease

You can look and feel great and still suffer a fatal heart attack

You can look and feel great and still suffer a fatal heart attack.

FACT: 1.5 million Americans have heart attacks every year; one-third are fatal…no symptoms, no warning.

According to the American Heart Association, risk of heart disease increases significantly in men over 40 and women over 50, especially when other factors are present:

  • Stress
  • Diabetes
  • Overweight
  • High Cholesterol
  • Sedentary Lifestyle
  • History of Smoking
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Other Vascular Disease
  • Family History of Heart Disease

Early detection and treatment is the best way to avert a potentially fatal heart attack and add years to your life!

Coronary Artery Screening

Detects early warning signs by measuring the amount of potentially harmful calcification in your coronary arteries.  A formula based on your age and a comparison of calcification amount is used to determine your risk.  Very sophisticated computer reconstruction will clearly show an image of your heart detailing the size and location of any calcium deposits within.  You will receive a written report of the findings and personal risk assessment within five working days.

If your test is negative (minimal or no calcium deposits found) you can probably relax and stop worrying, knowing that it is unlikely that you have coronary artery disease.

If your risk is positive (above average calcification) it is suggested that you consult with your physician to reduce the risk of sudden death or heart attack.  Further evaluation may be needed to differentiate hard and soft plaque.

The following CT angiogram (a more detailed study) provides a three-dimensional reconstruction of a heart revealing distinct calcifications (also know as plaque) attached to the arterial wall. Soft plaque can break away, causing a heart attack.

Lung Screening in Just 30 Seconds

This painless procedure produces detailed images of your lungs.  It can detect many potentially dangerous changes in very early stages when treatment is most effective.

FACT: Lung cancer kills more men and women than any other cancer.  In the year 2000 alone, nearly 157,000 Americans died and 164,000 new cases were discovered.

Are YOU at Risk?

smoker

According to the American Lung Association, smoking is the #1 cause of lung cancer; the more you smoke and the longer you smoke the greater your risk.
Other significant risks are:

  • Secondhand (passive) smoke
  • Radon gas, estimated to be at or above recommended levels in 1 out of 15 homes
  • Exposure to asbestos, industrial fumes and dust

Virtual Colonoscopy

A new alternative for the early detection of colorectal cancer and many other diseases…

This advanced procedure is less invasive and faster than other, more traditional methods.  The patient requires no sedation and the process is completed in a matter of minutes.  Detailed, three-dimensional reconstruction of the colon wall provides the doctor a complete view of the colon from all angles with which to assess apparently abnormal thickening or polyps.

FACT: Colorectal cancer is the second most common cause of cancer deaths in America with nearly 150,000 new cases diagnosed and 60,000 deaths annually.

Unlike conventional studies, Virtual Colonoscopy provides a complete view of all surfaces from any angle.  Colon cancer is usually slow growing and most polyps take many years to become malignant.  Screening with virtual colonoscopy every five years can reveal most potentially cancerous lesions while simple treatment may still be effective.

Abdominal Screening

Provides a multi-dimensional, detailed health picture of your kidneys, pancreas, gallbladder, liver and abdominal aorta with unequaled clarity.

QCT Osteoporosis Screening

Measures the overall bone mineral density of both the hard, outer bone (cortical) and the soft, inner bone (trabecular).  Measurement is most accurately taken in the lower spine.

QCT is an excellent method for evaluating bone density and tracking changes over a period of time in women who are at risk for osteoporosis due to hormonal changes.  Tracking bone density over time allows the physician to monitor the effectiveness of treatment for osteoporosis.

DENIAL CAN COST YOU YOUR LIFE.

New advances in CT technology allow detection of many potentially dangerous changes in your heart, lungs, other organs, spine and lymph nodes…often before you have symptoms. The procedure is accomplished in minutes while you relax in a comfortable CT suite.

FACT:  Sudden death due to heart attack usually occurs with no prior symptoms.

Comfortable, Fast, Accurate and Painless

Multidetector CT produces detailed pictures of your body and organs.  It is so fast that perfect images of moving organs such as your heart and lungs can be obtained in one breath hold!  New “Multiplanar” view allows reconstruction of images for a complete look from all angles.  There are no needles, injections or dyes required.  The examination usually takes about 15 minutes.  A board certified radiologist interprets the images and prepares a report explaining the findings.  Your confidential results and risk assessment are mailed to you within one week.  For your safety and convenience, a copy is also sent to your personal physician.

This new, comprehensive screening compliments your annual physical, providing you with a more detailed picture of your overall health.

FACT: Early detection may slow, stop, or even reverse heart disease.
